Scripture: Job 10-13. Click here to view full scripture.
Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Job begins to wallow in self-pity over the issues facing him. His friends are still accusing him of sinning.
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
When facing issues, we need to be careful not to blame God for our troubles. By wallowing in self-pity, it opens the door to blame God instead of using the trials we face to grow stronger through God. Remember that life’s trials, whether allowed by God or sent by God, can be the means for development and refinement. When facing trials, ask, “What can I learn?”, and, “How can I grow from this experience?”
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, we pray that when we are faced with hard times, we stay focused on learning from our trials instead of blaming them on others. We pray you would give us the strength to make it through life’s troubles and to learn from them as well as growing closer to you through them. We pray these things in Jesus’ name, amen.
