Scripture: Job 21-23. Click here to view full scripture.
Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Job’s discussion with his three friends continues. Job is still claiming his innocence while his friends continue to condemn him.
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
When trying to console a friend, the best thing we can do is listen. It’s not our job to judge them; it’s our duty to show God’s love to them no matter our perspective on the issue. The worst thing we can do for our friends or family is to condemn them like Job’s friends did to him. When we don’t know all the pieces of the puzzle, we shouldn’t pass judgment or try to act like we know everything about it.
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, we pray that you would help us to listen thoroughly to others in need and their problems without passing judgment upon them. We also pray that when we go through hard times in life, we keep the perspective that you are in control and help us to learn from our trials instead of feeling like it’s your fault. Bless our friends and families and everyone around us. You know each and every one of their individual needs, Father. Thank you that you are such a loving God. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
