Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Peter knew that his time on earth was limited, and he wanted to write to believers in the midst of their suffering and persecution. Peter warned the people about false teachers and also encouraged them to grow in their faith. Jude also wrote a letter to believers everywhere. He, too, also warned against false teachers and leaders who would try to lead others away from Christ. Jude encourages us to build up our faith in prayer, stay near to God, help others, and flee from sin. Follow along as we read the Books of 2 Peter and Jude!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
Our faith in God is essential; we must strive to grow every day. We need to draw near to God, have a personal relationship with Him, and always remember what He teaches us. God wants us to be faithful and obedient to Him. When we stay true to God’s Word, He can rescue us from those around us who distort and reject the truth. God will one day punish all evildoers; we must live as though Jesus is returning at any second! God will also judge those who cause temptations and trials in our lives. He is the only one who is to judge others, for it is not our job to do so. One day, God will restore this world; we must cling to His promises for us, for He is a God of truth. We must be willing to stand up for the truth no matter the circumstances or consequences. In the Book of Jude, Jude warns others about those who rebel against and ignore God. Those who do reject God will one day be punished. Our loving Heavenly Father promises us that if we remain faithful to Him through all circumstances, He will one day give us everlasting joy! 🙂

Please help us to always follow Your ways for us, obeying and praising You through all circumstances in our lives. Please help us to love and obey You wholeheartedly. Please help us to love our enemies and to forgive those who have hurt us, as well. Please be with those who have rejected You, and help them to return to You, Father, before judgement. Help us to treat others with kindness, and help us to show the same traits to others as You do, following Your example. Help us to trust in Your care and provision in each of our lives. Even though we do not always get what we want in life, we know that You know what is best for us. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. Help us also to be more compassionate toward others who are struggling in this evil world, as well. Help us to be Your hands and feet in this world, and guide us in the right paths for our lives. Help us to trust in Your timing for our lives, and help us not to grow impatient. We thank You for Your son Jesus who died to free us from the slavery of our sins.
