Looking for some great Bible verses about love?
The Bible offers numerous Bible verses about love. Both the New Testament and the Old Testament offer many great verses. These Bible verses about love can be broken into a few categories, as well. Some are about loving God, while others are about loving each other. Let’s take a look at a few of my favorite verses from both parts of the Bible.
Old Testament Bible Verses About Love
Let’s start with a Bible verse that talks about loving God:
Deuteronomy 10:12-14 – And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good? To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.
Isaiah 54:10 – Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
Leviticus 19:18: “‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.”
Psalm 40:11: “Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.”
New Testament Bible Verses About Love
The new testament offers a lot of verses on this topic. Here are some of my favorites!
Mark 12:31 -The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Luke 6:35 – But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.
Romans 13:10 – Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
A Bible verse that you’ve probably heard a lot when reading about this topic is 1 Corinthians 13, it’s an awesome description of what love truly is.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
What are your favorite Bible Verses About Love?
These are just a handful of Bible verses that cover the broad topic of love. The entire New Testament is about God’s love for us and how He sent his only Son to save us from our sins. There is no greater love than that of our Heavenly Father!
