A young teenager on reddit.com posted a story the other day about how she was comforted during a scary moment in her life. I asked her if we could share her story, and she was happy to do so.
I need to share what happened with someone who can relate. I I just want to tell someone 🙂
(If it makes much of a difference to the story, I’m a girl in my early teens)
So a few days ago my father was in another state on one of his usual business trips. My mom called him over and over and he didn’t pick up. He had probably forgotten to take his heart medications. If it weren’t for my mother reminding him every night to take his meds, he would never take them. It was about a day or so into his phone being off that my mom called the hotel. The door was locked from the inside and he hadn’t checked out. We thought he had a heart attack. His doctor warned him of the severity of his condition, and it was a very real possibility. It got to the point where my mom called an ambulance to break the door down.
By this point, we’re all crying. My sister has to take my little brother to his room to calm him down. Before he leaves, he hands me a rosary and, crying by myself, I pray. In the midst of all this chaos. Instantly, all my sadness and worry were gone. Just flushed away. I tried to be mad at myself for being insensitive. “Your father could be dead,” I told myself. But I couldn’t. I just felt calm, peace. Not even ten seconds later (I swear) my dad called on the phone.
I know it was God that comforted me through that whole experience. I won’t let anyone tell me otherwise. I was doubting my faith for a long time before that, but that experience has strengthened my relationship with God.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
