Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Ezekiel gave an extended view of Israel’s history of rebellion against God, and he gave the message that the people alone were responsible for the troubles and judgments they faced. God had clearly warned the people of Israel about the consequences they would bring about if they were disobedient to Him. Follow along in Ezekiel 20:5-26, as we continue our “30-Day Walk with Jesus” series!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
The Bible talks about the Sabbath and celebrating the Lord’s Day. God wants us to rest, refocus, and to remember Him and all that He does for us in our lives. God had warned His people about the consequences of their disobedience. When we choose to live our lives apart from God, we may also experience destructive consequences. God is always drawing us near to Him, for He wants what is best for His children. We must allow the consequences of our sins to draw us back to our Heavenly Father. We also must remember to thank God for His discipline, guidance, protection, and love.
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the examples and stories that You have placed in Your Word for us to learn from. Father, we know that we are sinners, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Please help us to forgive others who have hurt us and make things right with those we hurt. Please help us to love others, just like you love us. Please help us to always follow Your ways for us, obeying and praising You through all circumstances in our lives. And when we do face consequences for our sins, please draw us back to You, Father. Please help us to love and obey You wholeheartedly. Please be with those who have rejected You, and help them to return to You, Father, before judgement. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. We thank You for Your son Jesus who died to free us from the slavery of our sins. Thank You for the promise of one day living in eternity with You. Please guide and protect us, our friends, families, pets, and our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. We love You and thank You for everything. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
