Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
As God’s son, Jesus was a healer, and he healed a paralyzed man. Jesus told the man that his sins were forgiven, and he was healed. Jesus also healed a crippled woman by removing a spirit of infirmity. The synagogue ruler was upset that Jesus had healed the woman on the Sabbath, and Jesus called them hypocrites, for they would care for their animals but refused to rejoice when a human was freed from Satan’s bondage. Follow along in Matthew 9:1-8; Luke 13:10-17, as we continue our “30-Day Walk with Jesus” series!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
Jesus saw that the paralyzed man needed spiritual health. We, too, need to be sure that our spiritual health has “check-ups.” Our spiritual health comes from Jesus’ healing touch in our lives. Jesus’ actions demonstrated that his words were certainly true. Our actions in life need to back up our words. Satan is the source of all evil in this fallen world. There are many sicknesses and diseases in this world; however, our Heavenly Father is an all-powerful God! He can bring physical in this life, and one day, He will put an end to all sickness and disability!
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the examples and stories that You have placed in Your Word for us to learn from. Father, we know that we are sinners, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Please help us to forgive others who have hurt us and make things right with those we hurt. Please help us to love others, just like you love us. Help us to always be honest people, and let our attitudes and actions be pleasing to You, Father. Please help us to always follow Your ways for us, obeying and praising You through all circumstances in our lives. Please help us to love and obey You wholeheartedly. Please be with those who have rejected You, and help them to return to You, Father, before judgement. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. Please keep our spiritual health and physical health strong, Father. Please cure the world from sicknesses, diseases, and disabilities. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. We thank You for Your son Jesus who died to free us from the slavery of our sins. Thank You for the promise of one day living in eternity with You. Please guide and protect us, our friends, families, pets, and our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. We love You and thank You for everything. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
