Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
God’s covenant promise was offered to Jacob, and God wanted him to establish his own personal relationship with Him. One night, Jacob had a wrestling match with God in order to be blessed. Jacob was persistent, and God approved of Jacob’s persistence. Follow along in Genesis 28:10-15 and Genesis 32:22-28, as we continue our “30-Day Walk with Jesus” series!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
God wanted Jacob to develop his own personal relationship with Him. God wants each and every one of us to develop a personal relationship with Him, as well. We must draw near to Him. Jacob was persistent in his wrestling match with God, and he was blessed. God wants us to be persistent in all areas of our lives. When we are persistent and fight our way through the struggles and tough conditions in our lives, it helps us develop strong character. We also must be persistent in our spiritual lives, as well.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the examples and stories that You have placed in Your Word for us to learn from. Father, we know that we are sinners, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Please help us to be persistent in all areas of our lives. We want to have a close relationship with You. Please help us to love our enemies and to forgive those who have hurt us, as well. Please be with those who have rejected You, and help them to return to You, Father, before judgement. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. We thank You for Your son Jesus who died to free us from the slavery of our sins. Thank You for the promise of one day living in eternity with You. Please guide and protect us, our friends, families, pets, and our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. We love You and thank You for everything. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
