Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Because of his death, Jesus has freed all of us from the slavery of our sins forever. People in the Old Testament times offered untarnished animals as sacrifices for their sins. They would gather on the Day of Atonement in order to offer their sacrifices. The Day of Atonement was a yearly day of fasting and prayer among the Israelite people. Follow along in Hebrews 9:11-10:18, as we continue our “30-Day Walk with Jesus” series!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
God doesn’t hold on to our sins; when we ask for it, He forgives us completely. There is no need to confess past sins over and over again. We must be sure to thank our Heavenly Father for His son Jesus and for the deliverance that He gives to us. We also make sure that we follow Him out of love and obedience.
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the examples and stories that You have placed in Your Word for us to learn from. Father, we know that we are sinners, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Please help us to forgive others who have hurt us and make things right with those we hurt. Please help us to love others, just like you love us. Help us to always be honest people, and let our attitudes and actions be pleasing to You, Father. Please help us to always follow Your ways for us, obeying and praising You through all circumstances in our lives. Please help us to love and obey You wholeheartedly. Please be with those who have rejected You, and help them to return to You, Father, before judgement. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. Please cure the world from sicknesses, diseases, and disabilities. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. Help us to put our complete trust and faith in You, Father, for we know that You will work out Your plan. We thank You for Your son Jesus who died to free us from the slavery of our sins. Thank You for the promise of one day living in eternity with You. Please guide and protect us, our friends, families, pets, and our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. We love You and thank You for everything. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
