Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Israel had great reasons to believe in God and obey Him, for they had witnessed wonderful miracles that demonstrated God’s great love for them. In the Book of Deuteronomy, we read about how God wants us to love and serve Him with all of our hearts and souls. Follow along in Deuteronomy 11:13-21, as we continue our “30-Day Walk with Jesus” series!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
Few of us today have seen such dramatic miracles as the Israelites, and it may seem more difficult to obey God and remain faithful. However, God has given us His Word, which records miracles that Israel saw, and even the miracles that they did not see. We are to believe and have faith in our Heavenly Father. We can rely on past lessons, instructions in the Bible for the present, and the glimpses of the future He provides in order to give us opportunities to strengthen our faith in God.
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the examples and stories that You have placed in Your Word for us to learn from. Father, we know that we are sinners, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Please help us to forgive others who have hurt us and make things right with those we hurt. Please help us to love others, just like you love us. Please help us to always follow Your ways for us, obeying and praising You through all circumstances in our lives. Please help us to love and obey You wholeheartedly. Please be with those who have rejected You, and help them to return to You, Father, before judgement. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. We thank You for Your son Jesus who died to free us from the slavery of our sins. Thank You for the promise of one day living in eternity with You. Please guide and protect us, our friends, families, pets, and our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. We love You and thank You for everything. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
