Follow along in these beautiful songs, Psalm 1-2/15/22-24/47/68!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
There are many joys of obeying God and refusing to listen to those people who want to ridicule or refuse to listen to Him. True friends should help us draw closer to God. God does not judge us based on race, sex, or nationality; He judges us based on our faith and our responses to His revealed will. We can find the one sure route of freedom by choosing to follow God and His will for us, serving Him wholeheartedly in everything that we do. We, as humans, often have fears that show up in our lives. We can overcome our fears by trusting God for His protection in our darkest hours. Our standards of living should not come from the desires and examples of this fallen world, but from God alone. As we draw closer to God and grow stronger in our relationship with Him, we also develop a desire to live by His standards. God delivers us in the quiet moments spent with Him when we are hurting. When we allow God, our shepherd, to guide us in life, we have contentment. God promises us that we will one day live in eternity with Him, and this world will pass away. God is so amazing, and we certainly cannot describe Him completely; however, this shouldn’t stop us from at least trying to describe how amazing He is or telling others what we know about Him and how He works in our lives. God is our hope. He is our protection. We must continue to trust God, because, in time, He will fulfill all of His promises to us.
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the examples and stories that You have placed in Your Word for us to learn from. Thank You for the Book of Psalms, and the lessons that come from each beautiful song. Father, we know that we are sinners, and we ask for Your forgiveness. Please help us to love our enemies and to forgive those who have hurt us, as well. Help us to trust in Your care and provision in each of our lives. Even though we do not always get what we want in life, we know that You know what is best for us. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. Help us also to be more compassionate toward others who are struggling in this evil world, as well. Help us to be Your hands and feet in this world, and guide us in the right paths for our lives. We thank You for Your son Jesus who died to free us from the slavery of our sins. Thank You for the promise of one day living in eternity with You. Please guide and protect us, our friends, families, pets, and our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering. We love You and thank You for everything. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
