I grew up in the rural town of Windom, Minnesota. What initially was an assignment as a Vacation Bible School (VBS) helper to the VBS teacher, (who was a missionary in Japan) would eventually be the catalyst to my love for Japan.
Since then, I have had a heart for Japan and its people.
Through my years at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, God really developed a love in me for missions. Having started out my college career in an athletic training major, God quickly revealed to me that He was calling me to a life of ministry.
As I entered my final year at Bethel, God made it clear that the passion He gave me for camping ministry, youth, and Japan could all come together and that I did not need to pick one over the other.
I’m currently a missionary appointee with SEND International. I had the opportunity to visit Japan for five weeks during the 2013 summer. In that time, God reaffirmed that He indeed is calling me to a life of missions in Japan. While there, I will be working at Okutama Bible Chalet in western Tokyo.
