Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21
As Christians we need to seriously take a look at the words that come out of our mouths. To be a Christian means to be a follower of Christ. We should model our actions as much as possible towards how Christ acted. While we are all sinners, and we will never match up to Jesus’ ability to stay positive and never sin, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.
What brought up the topic of this article for me, was browsing through my Facebook feed today. It seems that the majority of posts that I saw were negative. People’s days were going horrible, someone hates their job, someone didn’t get the job they wanted, someone is fighting with their significant other, and so on.
This doesn’t even scratch the surface of negativity that is spreading around online and of course offline. Take a look at your newsfeed on Facebook and I’m sure you will see the same thing I did. Negativity rules Facebook.
This is one of the reasons we started this site, to spread POSITIVE content around Facebook and the internet.
I wonder if these people realize the destruction that their words have on their lives. Death and life are in the power of the tongue… When we speak negatively on any subject, it spreads into other areas of our lives. Our moods are affected, and we continue this negativity into the rest of our day. We should strive to stay positive through all things. To praise God through the storms of life.
Life is all about framing. Instead of thinking how horrible it is that you’re fighting with your significant other, be thankful that you HAVE a significant other. Instead of thinking how much you hate your job, be thankful that you HAVE a job. There are thousands of people who aren’t as fortunate as you in this country.
Matthew Chapter 12
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Take special note to these verses. We are accountable for every word that we speak, whether it was typing it out and sharing, or speaking out loud. Remember this the next time you want to be negative. Choose to be positive and re-frame your situation to think of the positives that came out of it. I guarantee if you can do this, you will become a happier person.
Help us spread positivity, not negativity. Share this article and help others try to re-frame their problems into a way of being thankful to God. Help us replace the death that plagues our eyes and ears every day with the truth of God’s word.
Encourage your friends, encourage strangers, encourage everyone!
Just as negativity spreads, positivity is contagious as well. Which one would you rather spread?
