Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
God wanted Isaiah to help bring the message of salvation into the world before Jesus was even born. The Israelites felt that God had forsaken them in Babylon; however, Isaiah pointed out to them that God would never forget about them. God promised to fight for Israel, but Israel decided to sin and reject God. Isaiah encouraged those who followed God’s laws, telling them to stay strong in their faith and to obey God. These chapters continue to speak about the Messiah, who would suffer for the sins of all people, bringing salvation and healing. Follow along in Isaiah 49-53!
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
God wants us to be His hands and feet, spreading the message of Christ and loving others. When we feel that God has forsaken us in our times of trouble, we must first ask ourselves if we have forsaken/forgotten Him. We must never doubt that God will fulfill His promises to us. Our God is trustworthy and true! Isaiah encouraged those who followed God and His laws. We have no need to fear when people insult us for our faith; God is with us, and His truth will prevail! God’s love and care for us will never change, even though His methods may change. We can put our entire faith and confidence in God’s ability to control our lives and to take care of us. God sent His one and only son to die for our sins. What a beautiful gift! God often works in ways that we do not expect, and we must praise Him daily.

Even though we do not always get what we want in life, we know that You know what is best for us. Please help us to draw near to You, and please protect us from giving in to the pressures of this fallen world. We want to live Godly lives. When we face struggles in this life, Father, please help us to call upon You. Help us also to be more compassionate toward others who are struggling in this evil world, as well.
