Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Moses recited the words of the song in Deuteronomy, Chapter 32, to the whole Israelite assembly. The Israelites had abandoned God, even after everything He had done for them. Moses encouraged the Israelites to think about God’s Word and to teach it to their children. God gave a different blessing to each tribe, and Moses spoke the blessings from God. Moses was considered Israel’s greatest prophet and the only individual to ever speak with God face -to-face. Moses died at 120 years of age, and Joshua became the leader of the Israelites. Psalm 91 speaks of God’s protection in the midst of danger.
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
We all can have hope when we put our complete trust in God. God’s Word is there to help us in life. When we discover the wisdom in God’s messages, we need to apply it in our daily lives and share it with our families and others. God gave each tribe a different blessing. God gives us all different talents, and they are all to be used to complete His ultimate plan. Just as Moses’ song states, our God is our refuge and our only true security in this fallen world. Psalm 91 points out that no matter how intense our fears are, we can give them up to God, our Protector. He will protect us in the midst of our storms in life. God is always looking out for His children.
