Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Moses continued with his reflections to the people and review of how God provided for them through events such as the defeat of Og, King of Bashan, division of the land, and when Moses was forbidden to cross the Jordan. Moses also reviewed with the Israelites the decrees and laws that God wanted him to teach the people, including obedience, forbidding idolatry, acknowledging the Lord is God, and the three cities of refuge for the people.
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
God fought for His people against Og, King of Bashan. God will help His children, no matter how big or small of a problem we face, and God will always keep His promises to us. No matter what we are facing, God has promised to fight with and for us as long as we place our trust in Him. God’s commandments and laws are meant to guide us toward lifestyles that are healthy and devoted to God. Moses wanted to make sure the Israelites did not forget all the miracles they had seen God perform, so he urged parents to share their stories with their children. Be sure to share with others what God is doing in your life. God wants to be known by us. We must search with all our hearts and souls to find, know, and follow Him.
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for fighting with and for us in the middle of our battles, struggles, and problems. Please help us to remember to share our stories with others of how You have provided and worked in our lives, always giving You the honor and the glory. Draw us near to You, Father, and please work in our lives. Please guide us, protect us, and forgive us for when we have failed. We love You and thank You. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
