Observation: What was going on in the Bible at this time?
Moses told the Israelites they were to follow every command he was giving them from the Lord. Moses lived completely committed to God and lived by every word that came from Him. Moses reminded the people not to fear the Anakites, for God would help the Israelites win the battle. Moses also reminded the people of the golden calf incident back in Horeb, once again stressing the importance of serving no other gods other than our one and only God. Moses gave a summary of what God expected of the Israelites, and we can be sure to follow those guidelines, as well.
Application: How can we apply this to our lives?
We can live by God’s Word by first realizing we need His guidance, agreeing that God alone can satisfy us, praying for His direction as we read the Bible, savor the relationships we have with Him through Jesus Christ, and then practice what God instructs us to do. We must always thank God, even for the quiet blessings He gives to us. It is God who gives us everything we have, and we must mange our lives how God directs us to. When we feel lost and afraid in life, remember to ask God for His guidance and protection. If He brings us to something, He will certainly deliver us through it. Seek God in all you do. God expects us to fear Him, follow Him, love Him, serve Him, and to observe His commands.
Prayer: What can we pray for in regards to these passages?
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the examples in Your Word and the constant reminders of Your love for us. Please help us to follow You, obey Your commands, and to constantly seek You. Help us to be thankful for all of the blessings You give to us, even the quiet blessings that come at just the right times. Please forgive us for our failures, and help us to love others as You love us. We love You and thank You. – in Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
