Today I am thankful for my senses.
Senses, as described by Dictionary.com, are:
“any of the faculties, as sight, hearing, smell, taste, or touch, by which humans and animals perceive stimuli originating from outside or inside the body.”
God gave us these five senses – sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.
The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
The sense of sight allows us to see the beautiful colors of life.
The sense of hearing allows us to hear the pitter-pattering of the rain, voices of our loved ones, and the harmonious chords of music.
The sense of touch allows us to feel the cool breeze of the wind on our faces, warmth of the sun on our backs, the hands and bear hugs of our loved ones.
The sense of smell allows us to smell the fresh flowers of the garden, the scent after a fresh rain or mowing of the grass, scented candles, delicious recipes, and perfumes.
The sense of taste allows us to taste the sweetness of ripe, fresh fruit, sourness of pickles, and the spiciness of homemade salsa.
Today I am thankful for the five senses that God has given me in order to enjoy the world around me.
