Today I am thankful for Sundays…
I am thankful that God created this seventh day for rest.
“Six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest. In plowing time and in harvest you shall rest.
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
Sunday is great for morning church, as well, but we all feel closer to God when we spend time with Him every day of our lives and not just on this particular day of the week.
You see, the seventh day of the week, Sunday, was meant to be a day of rest.
In fact, for me, it is a day to relax and reflect back on the week…what I learned and what I accomplished…prepare for a new week…and clear my mind from the stresses of everyday life, spending quiet time with God. I enjoy sitting around in comfy clothes with a hot cup of tea or hot cocoa and a good book in hand, a bowl of fresh stove-top-popped popcorn, feet propped up in front of the fireplace, and a whole day to reflect on how great our God is and the things that He has done for me and the others around me.
Today I am thankful for Sundays, days of rest.
