In Ephesians, Chapter 6, the Bible talks about how the struggles and battles we go through in our lives are not against flesh and blood but against the rulers and authorities, which are the powerful evil forces of fallen angels headed by the devil himself. Those who are not “flesh and blood” are demons who Satan has control over.
When we become Christ-followers, these beings become our enemies. Their goal is to destroy and defeat Christ’s church and to turn us away from Him and back to sin.
How can we all pray on all occasions?
Prayer is a very powerful tool. Pray constantly, in every single circumstance. Pray for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. You can make prayer your life and life a prayer while living in this fallen world that so badly needs God’s influence.
Each and every day, put on the full Armor of God – Ephesians 6:10-20 –
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
1. The Belt of Truth
A belt is used to hold things in place. The Belt of Truth keeps us secure in Christ and protected from being vulnerable.
2. The Breastplate of Righteousness
The Breastplate of Righteousness guards our hearts. Each and every day, we are all susceptible to the evil of this world, but we are protected by this piece of armor that God has given us.
3. The Shoes of Peace and Preparation
The Shoes of Peace will allow us to step freely and without worry while we fight this spiritual battle at hand. When we have our Shoes of Peace and Preparation on, we are ready to move and share the gospel with others.
4. The Shield of Faith
Satan tries to shoot doubt at all of us when God does not act immediately or visibly. The Shield of Faith that God gives us will protect us against our doubts.
5. The Helmet of Salvation
The Helmet of Salvation covers our our minds, intellect or reasoning; it protects our thoughts and knowledge.
6. The Sword of the Spirit
The Sword of the Spirit represents the Bible, the Word of God. God gives us this weapon so that we can strike against Satan.
The Power of Prayer is amazing. We should constantly be praying, through all occasions, with all kinds of prayers and requests. Praying for one another is what God instructs us to do. We then can be ready for whatever the enemy tries to throw at us.
The Lord assures us that we have already won the battle. However, we must engage in this struggle until Jesus returns; Satan is always battling against those who are on the Lord’s side.
