Today I am thankful for wealth.
Now, when I speak of “wealth,” I’m not talking about how dictionary.com would describe it:
“a great quantity or store of money, valuable possessions, property, or other riches.”
I am acknowledging the riches in my life – ability to pay bills on time, having a niece and three nephews who think I am the greatest, having the opportunity to spend time with my friends and family, getting to sleep in on Saturdays, the loving and fun relationship with my spouse, the opportunities to serve and help others, the beautiful scenery of deer in the cornfield as I walk out my back door, the funny personalities of my pets, the second chance in life that we all receive through our Savior Jesus Christ, the promises God has given to us, the lessons I learn on a daily basis, etc.
In fact, it’s the little things in life, the riches in our lives, the things we are thankful and grateful for, that create wealth.
You know, we can all learn to appreciate the little things in life, for it is the little things in life that give us the most joy.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. – Robert Brault
Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seem odorless but all together perfume the air. – Georges Bernanos
We can be thankful for the wealth that God gives us in life – that is, the riches that we have in our lives. Of course money can create wealth; however, take a look into your life. You may just be the wealthiest person alive, not even realizing it… until you see all that God has given you.
God has placed riches into our lives. And for those gifts, we must be thankful. How can we not be?
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. – James 1:17
Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! – Psalm 106:1
May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans! – Psalm 20:4
Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! – Psalm 100:4
Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift! – 2 Corinthians 9:15
Today I am thankful for wealth – the little riches in my life – and God’s greatest gift of all…His son Jesus, a second chance in life, the promises that He has given to us, and an eternity with Him. Now that is the definition of wealth, in my book.
